I designed these latest fabrics with my good friend Anne in mind. She is a talented quilter who loves ‘country’ colours, making miniature quilts, and motifs like hearts and stars are her favourites. She once told me she found it hard to get fabrics that featured both hearts and stars, so I couldn’t help but rise to the challenge. I like having parameters to work to, so this time the challenge was to design a small print, use ‘autumny’ colours, and feature hearts and stars.
I ended up with two designs. One using the idea of tiny mixed buttons in different colours and sizes, and the other with a ‘starburst’ shape made of hearts and stars in vintage Americana style red, tea-dye and blue. I do hope that the samples I made for her make it into one of her little scrappy quilts. If you like these fabrics too they are available to buy now in my ‘spoonflower’ online shop.
