I’m a freelance writer and along with providing web content and writing a blog in previous job roles, I’ve written for various independent magazines often, but not exclusively, relating to comics or textile crafts. You can see some full articles in pdf form if you follow the links below. Where possible I can also provide photos to accompany the articles, as seen in my feature on Sandra Montgomery for the Irish quilting magazine. It’s a dream of mine to do more work like this in future.
Feature on Sandra Montgomery for Irish Quilting Magazine Vol2 Issue 6
2D comics festival Reveiw for Inis Magazine Issue 33
Women in Indi Comics, article for Verbal Issue 11

A selection of my articles featured in Nude Magazine, Inis- Children's books Ireland, and the Irish Quilting Magazine
I also enjoy creative writing and spent the best part of a year writing weekly flash fiction (super-short stories designed to be read on the web) on the inspirational site Elephant Words. I will one day compile these in print I’m sure, but for now you can peruse them on in my section on Elephant Words. See link below:-

In addition I’ve written and illustrated my own independent comics, and have extended this skill set to writing and illustrating info booklets on a freelance basis. See for example: Stranger Danger for the Gasyard Development Trust
And my independant work, a neutral history of the Derry City Walls funded by the Arts Council NI here: ‘These City Walls’.

Hi Bridgeen, would love you to come to North West Quilters Guild on 30th March, 2010, Clooney Hall, 7 15pm to give us an update on life after Mission Hall. Maybe along the lines of Fabric Design and your freelance writing. Hope this gets to you. Kind regards Marlene
